Who Do You Admire?

This weeks blog topic on Flaming Hot is "who do you admire"? I admire a lot of people! I've taken a lot of glass classes with amazing instructors. Jen Geldard is a talented bead maker and one of the most precious people I have met in a long time, her spirit really is amazing. Kimberly Affleck one of the best instructors hands down, a very inspiring class and she shares any and all of her skills freely! Andrea Guarino another amazing person, with loads of talent and a eye for amazing art. Sherry Bellamy is always pushing the limits of what you can DO with a bead!

My current show "mate" Janine Shea who really manages to make all our trips and shows a blast! I am always astonished she can put up with me!

My past show "mate" Nicole Le Claire Brown the MOST environmentally conscious person I know. She's who got me inspired to start recycling, and I am looking into solar panels!

Equine instructors I admire, again I've had the pleasure of riding with many! Ray Hunt made me appreciate slowing down and enjoying the process. Monty Roberts made me appreciate who I am and where I've gotten in life. Pat Parelli is one of the best speakers I've ever heard, he is so easy to understand. My on going instructor is Jane Stone, she's got a knack for knowing just how far to push me without making things frustrating!

I have to say my husband inspires me daily. He gets banged up monthly if not weekly at rodeo's and dusts himself off and gets right back to it. He's got a bit notorious for talking to total strangers about "my wife makes beads out of GLASS!"

I am blessed by the people I have had the pleasure to cross paths with in my life.

Perfecting you Craft

The Flaming Hot topic this week is "perfecting your craft". Just let me say, I don't think I'll ever be perfect! I am fortunate to spend alot of time at the torch. Often 4 days a week. I think the constant torching does allow we to get good quality beads holes and symetrical beads. I was once called a "picky" beadmaker in a class! I like my bead holes to be nice and even, no sharp edges ever, and my beads to be balanced. After that I strive for something that flows, catches the eye and that's unique. I have also had the joy of taking alot of classes! I love learning, it gives me the chance to try something outside my comfort zone. It also gives me the chance to play with all my great beadmaking friends!

New Auctions

I have three new auctions on ebay this week. The "Sea Maiden" Goddess is a tiny one! The "Little Earth" bead has loads of color and a subtle glow to it. The "Caramel Garden" bead would make a lovel focal for a jewelry piece.

Color Combos

Flaming Hot's tips tuesday this week is about color and how you find your color combos. I finally started carrying a notepad with me and jot down color combo's I see while travelling. When really stumped I use the Color Hormony Workbook. Fantastic book!

Presenting it!

The blog topic on Flaming Hot this week is how do you present your work? Normally I do my pictures on a simple white background with natural light. I have to edit them very little after I use this setup!

This week however I am not presenting a darn thing! We laid our dear mare Kinsely to rest on tuesday. My husband, myself and our four legged family are a bit torn up about it all. Here are a couple of pictures of her. One with her daughter Annie and one of her barrel racing.

Joined Flaming Hot...and naming pieces

I joined Flaming Hot a ne site for beadmakers and blogging. It's kinda fun! They have tips and tricks, sell it sundays and commenting on topics. The topic right now is "naming work". The names for my pieces usually just "come to me" often relating to how they look or a feel the evoke. Sometimes I wing it!

Class Update and New Auctions

I spent last weekend in Pt Townsend taking a class with Andrea Guarino, WOW! I had a blast and learnt tons! The silver cored bead in ebay this week is made using the Jim Moore bead press, which we learnt to use in class. I also got the bead press as a B Day Pressy from my fantastic husband!!! The goddess is gold fumed and heavily encased!
